Let's Take a Tour to Tirupati Balaji Temple in Andhra Pradesh

Nowadays people tend to be always on the move, they become self-involved and bogged down with work. But through all of this it is important to be true to yourself and your beliefs. Spirituality is an important part of life because even though you can lose your material positions no one can take away your spiritual beliefs. Belief in a higher purpose could be what you need to keep you grounded.

No matter what religion you believe in, a retreat is a way to reconnect with yourself and your beliefs. Periodic retreats or pilgrimages help in spiritual growth and peace of mind. One of the most popular pilgrimage cities in India is Tirupati.

Tirupati is a pilgrimage centre located in Andhra Pradesh in the city of Chittoor. The Tirumala hills consist of seven peaks which represent the seven heads of Adisesha. Out of all the temples of the region perhaps the most visited is The Sri Venkateswara Temple situated about 10km from Tirupati. This is one of the more popular pilgrimage destinations in the world, with millions of pilgrims visiting every year. The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara and is located in a hollowed hill 853 meters above sea level.

There are many other temples you could visit in order to  complete your trip to Tirupati and Tirumala, such as: ISKCON Temple, Sri Varahaswamy Temple, Balaji Temple and Agastya Swami Temple. There are a number of beautiful picnic spots close to the city like the Horsey Hills, Kalyani Dam, and Kailasakona Waterfalls. You can also visit the Chandragiri Fort.

There are a fairly decent number of hotels in Tirupati and you can choose as per your requirements. Do remember to book in advance though, for during summer holidays or Diwali holidays millions of people descend upon Tirupati and one cannot risk being stranded.
